Host an event to raise funds for women in our communities

If you are looking for a way to get more involved think about hosting an event for the Hope Chest. There are many fun ways to raise funds and awareness in the community for the Hope Chest. A few of our latest partnerships:

- Orono High School Girls Basketball team had a "Get Your Pink On" night at their basketball game. They had a silent auction and raffle all to raise funds for the Hope Chest. It was a great game and the Spartans won!

- Wild River Bar & Grill had a snowmobile ride this past weekend and dinner to benefit the Hope Chest. Even in the freezing cold, they had a great turnout of men and women who want to support breast cancer patients our community.

- Eclectic Spalon will be holding their grand opening this Sunday, March 6th to benefit the Hope Chest.

If you have an idea for an event or want to get involved contact Cathy Braaten 952-471-8700 ext 17 or cbraaten@hopechest.us

March 2011 Story of Hope - Future

As I watched my 4-year old twin daughters, I received the call that no woman is prepared for, "You have breast cancer."  A stay-at-home mom with a beautiful family, my husband rushed home as soon as I phoned him with the news.  I remember watching our sweet daughters play and instantly knew that I was going to face this battle head on and win!  Seeing their innocent faces looking at me so full of love and life, I knew they would be a source of hope through this journey.  Once I was feeling good again, my journey took an unexpected turn.  I was diagnosed with a rare side effect from chemo, and at the age of 33 had both of my hips replaced within ten weeks of each other.  Again, the girls and my husband were right there with me cheering me on and giving me hope.  Today, my hope has been the source for hope to other families.  My co-survivors have learned about compassion, love and hope.  I couldn't be more proud!  The future is ours...  Kim
