Hope Chest E-Newsletter - January 2011 |
|
The Hope Chest reaches an incredible milestone!
As we reflect on 2010, I want to send a heartfelt Thank You for your support.
In 2011, The Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Foundation is celebrating our 10-year anniversary, which marks a milestone of providing over $1,000,000 in support to more than 2,000 families touched by breast cancer in the Twin Cities area through our emergency assistance, Delivered Meals that Heal, and early detection education and screening programs.
We could not have done it without you. Your support provides hope to breast cancer patients at a time when they need a helping hand. Let this year be better than all the others.

January 2011 Month of Hope
"A Village"
Cancer is a powerful word. I felt I was falling down a deep, dark hole. Those first days were difficult and frightening. But I knew on a raw, basic, gut level that I would be alright. Little did I know how valuable those days would be. Realizing I'd found home is what ultimately gave me hope. Having spent a lifetime moving every few years, I'd always felt a bit on the outside, detached. But my cancer experience changed that for me - it was really a gift. The out-pouring of love and caring from family, friends and acquaintances was overwhelming - the dinners, visitors, and neighbors dealing with all the day-to-day routine it takes to run a family, the flowers, conversations, and shared laughter plus tears...incredible generosity. A village rallied around me, there to help with whatever I might need. I am ready to return the favor any moment to this remarkable community that helped me survive. I am home - Jeanne |

The Orono Hope Chest store is collecting designer vintage clothing, handbags, and accessories for a special sale! If you have any vintage items (maybe an old Louis Vuitton bag you don't use) to donate, please bring to our Orono store by February 15th. We normally don't take vintage pieces, but have been receiving some very special items, so we thought we'd collect them for a special event. So go through that old jewelry box or back closet and see if there are any gems to support the Hope Chest! This should be a very fun event. Stay tuned for more information. | | |
